ROOM OBJECTS FROM GEOMETRIC SHAPES

THE MUG AND TOILET PAPER TUTORIAL

1. Create a new page with square dimensions, i.e. 8.5”w x 11”h.  Save the document as mug02.eps.

2. Using the Shape Tool, draw a rectangle that is 2.4”w x 2.75”h.  Select a solid color from the Swatches palette and apply it to the rectangle.

3. Using the Shape Tool, draw an ellipse that is 2.4”w x 0.5”h.  Select a solid color from the Swatches palette and apply it to the ellipse.

4. Drag a copy of the ellipse and position it at the bottom of the rectangle.

5. Select the rectangle & the bottom ellipse, then “Unite” them using the pathfinder palette.

6. Scale another copy of the ellipse and position it at in the center of the first ellipse.

7. Use your gradient swatches and palette to create and apply logical gradients to the interior and exterior of the mug.

8. Drag a copy the two ellipses from the top of the mug and transform them into the handle of the mug using the “Exclude” tool from the Pathfinder Palette.

Position the handle and send it to the back of the mug:

Object > Arrange Send to Back
