Project Presentation / Critique

Problem:
Designer will use the philosophical definition of the company’s name, a typographic approach, or iconic symbolism to design a visual identity program for a new business that provides promotional video, multimedia and online services for business and institutions. The identity must attract new customers and distinguish itself from competitors and traditional advertising agencies.

Note: As you research these company names, think beyond the Webster’s™ definition of these terms. Consider the philosophical definition associated with these names and try to understand why a company would select these names as the name for their institution.

ASSIGNMENT 1

Client: (Choose two companies.)

  • Axiom Media Group, Inc.
  • Paradigm Concepts
  • Kaleidoscope Media, LLC

Problem:
Designer will use the philosophical definition of the company’s name, a typographic approach, or iconic symbolism to design a visual identity program for a new business that provides promotional video, multimedia and online services for business and institutions. The identity must attract new customers and distinguish itself from competitors and traditional advertising agencies.

You may NOT use stock art illustrations for your graphic mark designs.

Target Audience:
Business owners and institution executives, organizational decision makers (i.e. Marketing Executives and Directors).

Specifications:

1.     Corporate colors
Limit – 2 PMS colors (The Designer will decide on colors and colors must have a meaning or purpose.)

2.     Graphic Mark
Must be designed in 2 versions:

  • Black/white
  • Color

3. Submission of Work (This was on your creative brief)
Submit final graphic mark design as follows:

  • JPEG format
  • 400p x 600p
  • 180 ppi
  • transfered by flash drive

Presentations Format – Formal:
For this critique, each designer will present her/his own work. Be prepared to discuss the following things about your project:

Come on time & Be Prepare to Be in Class until 8:00pm

Project Deadline & Critique. Formal Presentation Format.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO DRESS UP FOR THIS CRITIQUE
BUT PROFESSIONAL DRESS WILL BE GRANTED EXTRA CREDIT POINTS. 

Work must turn in digital files if JPEG format (refer to specifications above).

Discuss: Address which conceptual approach you chose.

  • Did you use the philosophical definition associated with these names of your company? In which ways?Explain why a company would select these names as the names for their institution. Then explain how you embedded the philosophical message in your mark.
  • Did you manipulate type form to create your message?
  • Did you successfully delivery an iconic symbol from the alteration of type or through illustration?
  • What is the concept or idea behind your creative approach and how does your mark connect to the company?
  • Discuss your experience while completing the assignment. Do you feel as though you learned something new or expanded on something already known?
  • What are you feelings about the outcome of your project (pro’s and con’s)?

The class is expected to volunteer critical feedback (pro’s and con’s) about fellow classmates’ projects.
