Assignment 1b: Philosophical Meanings Visual Identity Project 

Problem: Designer will use the philosophical definition of the company’s name, a typographic approach, or iconic symbolism to design a visual identity program for this new wellness coalition that provides instructional video, multimedia presentations and online instruction and information about health, fitness and wellness for business and institutions workers. The identity must attract institutional employees on all levels. It must also distinguish itself from competitors in the fitness and wellness market.

Note: As you research these company names, think beyond the Webster’s™ definition of these terms. Consider the philosophical definition associated with these names and try to understand why a company would select these names as the name for their institution.

Also, designers may NOT use clip art illustrations for your graphic mark unless you manipulate the image 50% or more.

ASSIGNMENT 1

Client: Choose one company from list below and design / develop 3 different samples of graphics marks to present to the client. Select a color scheme that represents the company based on the derived meanings and messaging of colors as we understand them to communicate in the western hemisphere. In this situation, black is considered a color, but white is not.

Target Audience: Business employees, institution executives, organizational movers and shakers (i.e. Marketing Executives and Directors), all of which may neglect their health for their jobs.

Specifications:

1.     Corporate colors
Limit – 2 Pantone Management System (PMS) colors (The Designer will decide on colors and colors must have a meaning or purpose.)

2.     Graphic Mark
The designer must present 3 different design samples of their graphic marks. The marks must be designed with 2 versions:

• Black/white
• Color

Submission of Work (This was on your creative brief):
Submit final work mounted on single ply black board (industry standard) or black foam board. You may use stock photography for this project.
