Apple® iTunes™ Essentials ‘Timeless Collection’ Animated Web Page

Introduction

Apple® iTunes™ Essentials has established the Timeless Collection.  The Timeless Collection is a series of songs that profile the careers of African-American or Caribbean Musical Artists and Musicians that have helped define ‘American Music.’  Each Artist or Musician has endured a career that has spanned no less than two decades in the music entertainment industry. Their music must have had a distinct impact and influence on American Music across no less than three genres.

Objective

You, as Interactive Designer, have been granted the privilege of designing the promotional graphic interface web page for one of the Artist/Musicians in the Apple® iTunes™ Essentials Timeless Collection. 

Assignment

Select an American Musical Artist or Musician that fits the criteria stated in the introduction.  Design an interactive web page or DVD menu screen that promotes her/his/their legacy as an influential contributor to American Music.

Project Specifications

Selected Artist/Musician:  Selection due by March 3, 2011 (at the end of class)

Page Size (in Pixel Dimensions):  1024 X 640 pixels

Sections to include:  Home Page/Top Menu; Biography; Discography; Photography; Cinematography

Headline:  Use your artist/musician’s name as you headline

Subheadlind:  Apple iTunes Essentials

Tagline:  The Timeless Collection

Signatures:  Apple and iTunes Graphic Marks

Create an interactive web page that incorporates the following elements:

I will be checking for the following:

  • Level of Creativity/Conceptuality
  • Level of Completion and Ability to Follow Instructions
  • A Storyline that expresses the significance of your artist/musician
  • Optimized Raster Images for fast page loads
  • Type containing Special Effects created with the filter options and styles

You must also have at least three (3) of the following:

  • Photos of your selected artist.  These photos must be combined within one composition (i.e. collage, montage, superimposition).
  • Active links pertaining to your Artist. These links should move through your timeline and should including (at least) the following for Navigation:
    • Biography (Linking to your Artist’s Official Web Site)
    • Photos
    • Discography
    • Any other additional page navigation that you select
  • Apple and iTunes.com Logos (This image can be downloaded from the company web site and should link your page to the actual Apple.com/itunes/ home page.)
  • Stylized Buttons
  • Rollovers
  • Animated Transitions from page to page 
  • Animation within at least on single page (movie clips, shape tweening, etc.)
