CREATING A 1-POINT PERSPECTIVE GRID / CONVERTING GRIDS TO GUIDES

1. Create a new page with square dimensions, i.e. 8”x8”.  Save the document.

2. Show your rulers by going to the menu bar and selecting:

View > Show Rulers

3. Place vertical and horizontal guide on your page that intersect at the 4×4 coordinates (center page). Guides can be pulled from your rulers by clicking and dragging into position.

4. Your horizontal line, in this instance, is your horizon line.

5. Create your vanishing point by drawing a dot in the center of the page where the guides intersect.  Save the document.

6. Create your horizontal and vertical lines using the rectangular shape tool and the blend tool.  Save the document.

7. Create your orthogonal/diagonal lines and using the line segment tool, the direct selection tool (the white arrow) and the blend tool. Save the document.

8. Convert your lines and shapes into guides by selecting all and then going into the menu bar and selecting:

View > Guides > Make Guides
